Kite Flying (Makar Shankranti)
Aspire International School celebrated Makar Sankranti to inculcate the respect for diversity and appreciation of India's rich culture in the students by organizing a Kite Flying activity on January 18. Students were enlightened about Makar Sankranti, a harvest festival that marks the arrival of spring. The festival symbolises the beginning of the auspicious period of Uttarayan. Makar Sankranti is celebrated across the country with different names like Pongal in Tamilnadu, Makara Villaku in Kerala, Sukarat in Bihar and Jharkhand, Poush Sankranti in Bengal and Uttarayan in Gujarat. Students were very happy and enthusiastic about the idea of making their own eco-friendly kites out of old newspapers and broom sticks with teachers' instructions. The whole exercise was a joyous experience for the students as well as the teachers. Students of all classes participated with enthusiasm. It was a great day with colourful kites and children with big smiles on their faces. Back
